GPS refresher/Map ride

Once again, Terry good look with this. Are you intending to mix your surfaces, and what sort of mileages are involved... not that I could attend anyway.

The first one the 4x4 group did was pre-gps days and pure tarmac. It being a 4x4 group, it lsoon involved easy tracks and then got more and more demanding as the group skills increased. It did however put a few people off as they didn't want to scratch the bodywork.

This could be a template for other regions of the country as it's nice to go somewhere with a loose purpose.

this is mixed surfaces but not to rough and not off road off road
but a little of road :confused:but as much as you see
in second picture
its about 50/60 miles course
longer if you get in a muddle with gps coordinates

I cant program my Tomtom with coordinates, only road names so I cant even find the start point!!

try this then come along see if we can sort it out or tag on with another person
Navigating to coordinates tom tom
Many users have been requesting this for a long time, and now their request has been fulfilled: in version 6, it becomes possible to directly enter lat/long coordinates and plot a route directly to those coordinates. In case these coordinates aren't located on a road, the users can choose to let the software calculate a route as close as possible to the entered coordinates.

ok just need people to confirm
that they are interested still would be good to have a few more people
to make it worth while

The "not off road" off road sections, are they rideable on a road bike? Obviously at reduced speed, and the fords, do you know if they're GSA handlebar deep or front axle deep?

Got someone looking at the GSA today so if he wants it was considering bringing my ancient ZX10.

the whole course is doable on a road bike off road
bits are fire tracks (but then again if you have a gps
you can sort the route out)
as for the fords depending on rain I suppose
they was ok the other weekend I went out

remember you tell gps shortest or longest way :augie

Richie...if you don't get PM A64 Jinnah around 0845.....text to confirm...later dude.

It rained, then rained some more, then a little bit extra rain just to make sure.

My bit of paper got wet and tastie n my sat navs agreed sometimes, then disagreed, then we decided it was to wet so went home!!

Cheers for making the effort Terry, might be worth doing it again at some point and hopefully get some better weather! Had a few probs with some of the coordinates but I'm not familiar with long/lat so it was probably down to idiot user error.

SORRY

Sorry didnt make it guys:(

got just outside tadcaster to meet up with tastiehastie and got a flat:mad:

after a quick attempt with the hand pump and to no joy i had to return home.

very wet, very p!ssed off:spitfire

wet was not the word last group did waypoint 11 I think and then straight to cafe (aka swimming pool when we left)
thanks for turning up
p.s reminder to ones self speak to God to ask for better weather next time

LOL mark and I did up to waypoint 5 Then lost the plot, Wet in the wrong place and getting wetter we decided to call it a day...think we were about 28 miles off course...hehehehe. Although both stanavs told us that's where we should be???? Still to cold to recover or think. Cheers for the day, maybye try it again....but this time a good bit of praying to the gods. A good turn out much better than advertised.
