Okay - not sure whether this should go under GPS Info of Computers, so I might repeat it to get coverage.

I've got an old IPAQ h1910 running Windows Pocket PC version 4.20 which became surplus to requirements when I got my first Blackberry. I'm looking for some sort of SatNav for my car (and maybe other uses - but not the bike) and given the decent-sized and bright screen on the IPAQ I wondered if I could get some software to use it as such. Done a quick search but it's not revealed anything obvious. The closest I've got is the Garmin Mobile 10 but I'm not sure about compatibility.

Has anyone gone down this route and succeeded?

I've used CoPilot on a Fujitsu Siemens Loox 720 for years. This hooks up to a GPS receiver via bluetooth. In the car I have a cradle which powers both the Loox and the GPS. On the bike the Loox lives in an Otterbox on a ram mount on the bars. The GPS receiver sits in my tank bag which has a separate power supply to run the intercom, MP3 * 2, bike to bike radio and a Nokia phone.

Having said all of that I'm about to move to a Zumo because all this lot is too many wires. The reason I did it originally was because in the early days of Satnav no-one did what I wanted and using the Loox with Co-Pilot was the least bad.

Map source ran on mine.. till it met in 2 accidents.. both involving fords... one the water type and the other the car type.... must never put gadgets on the roof....

TomTom works on Ipaq/Xda etc...................

I've also used Navman software on an Ipaq - but that was a few years ago, so not sure if they still do an app.

I'd go with the TomTom software on the iPaq, I would also try and get a cradle that has a GPS receiver built in (See ebay) it cuts down on cables floating about the car and you don't need to worry about the bluetooth GPS running out of battery power

I've got an IPaq which was aquired from a member of this site, it came with an in-car holder with built in GPS sensor and a copy of TomTom 6 on CD.

The software turns out to be a cracked version on TT6 with full mapping included and no activation code required.

The GPS acquision can be a bit slow initially compared to a normal GPS, but other than that everything works as required.

If you want a copy (purely for evaluation purposes of course) let me know.

TomTom 7.9 on mine and it's great.

Lots of people swearing by a one called iGo. I haven't tried it myself but from the screenshots it looks superb.
