I delete a manual route??????

I was out for a ride over the weekend and decided to try to make a manual route back to where I was staying. The route worked ok but when I deleted the route my GPS turned off. I have made more manual routes and the same thing happens

Is this normal or have I found a bug

I am running the latest mapsource and city select software ( not the beta releases)

I don't quite understand what you have done. Have you created the route on the GPS unit then deleted it or is the route coming in as an upload from the PC then you are deleting ?

I can't say I have encountered problems with either on my unit. It may just be your batteries are getting low. They do wierd things when the power supply is low. Check them first or try and perform the same delete when you are connected to an extrenal pwer socket.

The route was in put direct to the unit, menu, routes, new route, create route by moving cursor, navigate, use roads,shortest route.

when reached destination delete route GPS turns off.

This was after removing the unit from my bike and putting batteries bak in. the batteries were showing just below half used.
I will try this with a 12V connection and see what happens

Sounds like you have the 'turn unit off when arriving at destination' option set to on.

You arrive, delete route and the unit takes this to mean you've arrived - beep, off.

Well I think it might be a power thing. using the 12V supply deleting a manual route did not turn the GPS V off. trying to copy a saved automatic route turned it off tho. interestingly, when using the batteries that caused the GPS to turn off, if I delete an automatic route the unit does not power off

All very strange. I think I will just get on using it to navigate and stop playing

If you use just batteries on the bike and go over some bumps the batteries can move internaly and the momentary loss of power will make the unit switch off. Thats the official line I had from Garmin when mine had a funny moment recently.

Andy, I dont use batteries in my unit when it is on the bike, I fit them later so I can sit in a bar and play with the GPS.
If I use the unit in a car I tend to leave the batteries in, there is less vibration and the extra weight stops the unit moving around.

I do want to get an external aerial and beanbag at some stage because reception in the car is a bit iffy due to the reflective coating added to the windscreen.
