im very pleased with the 60cs.

If you paid £575 maybe you got a kit including the MApsource.

By the way be very carefull with the Garmin handlebar mount they break very easily. (Mine did) get yourself a Ram mount.

In defense of the Garmin hardware engineers, it needs to be noted that the handlebar mount for the 60 is intended for bicycle use, not moto use. I haven't seen one, so I can't comment any further.

Be aware that the only moto-specific bracket that Garmin makes is the one for the SP 26xx series. However, many of the aviation mounting brackets that Garmin makes are very durable, and fully suitable for motorcycle use. For example, I have my 296 mounted on my moto using an aviation yoke mount bracket that was intended for use with a model 176. In the last 2 weeks, I have travelled over 3,000 miles, Poland to Spain and back to Switzerland, no problems with it at all.

I am not near Finland - I am actually in the Canadian Rockies, training pilots. Here is a photo of me that one of my students took earlier this week. Hope you like the flag on the doors of the aircraft.

Hi Pan,

I've only just read this thread as I'm researching into the world of GPS for my GS. Nice pic of our aircraft there and with scenery like that, no wonder Mark & Ian looked happy :)

It was nice to meet you in Calgary too.

Hi Pan,

.. "In defense of the Garmin hardware engineers, it needs to be noted that the handlebar mount for the 60 is intended for bicycle use, not moto use. I haven't seen one, so I can't comment any further".

If your mounting onto a GS, then RAM have the RAM-HOl-GA12 to hold the MAP 60 as used by 'Richie'. This can be attached to several mounts eg RAM-B-149, 149Z, 149ZA. There's a MAP 60 attached onto a Honda trials 400 on the RAM UK site (see customer galleries) and uses a plastic handlebar mount (RAP-B-104 - RAIL) which works well.
