GPX - Harz

I have lots of excellent routes for the Harz area. I've been travelling round the Harz for the last 20 odd years.
Excellent Hotel as a base too. It used to belong to a friend who has now retired but is worth a stay over. https://biker-hotel-harz.de/

Some routes below :)

Thank you.

I have taken the liberty of linking your routes differently, so they become more visible.

The Nazi tunnels, near Nordhausen, where they made V1 (and some V2) rockets is well worth a visit.
Yes, it's a great place to visit & worth doing the guided tour to gain access to the underground tunnels which are only accesible on a guided tour. They have headsets with English translation available.

These are timed to perfection gentlemen! Never been to the Harz mountains but this year I`m staying for a couple of days to explore while on the way to Colditz and down to the KTM factory.

If you are heading down that way it's worth visiting the Red Bull Hangar 7 at Salzburg. We called in last year & spent about 4 hrs there. Great experience.

If you know the dates you are going to Hanger 7, then let me know.
I have a contact that works there (Head of flying services) and find out if there will be anything running.

A few years back we got a guided tour of the maintenance and overhaul workshops. Fantastic

I can recommend the Biker Hotel Harmonie if you're visiting that area

Planning a trip to the Harz in September and have been checking reviews for this place on Trip Advisor today and it looks like its been taken over, review scores have plummeted since and some very negative comments. Anyone been here since the take over?

I have very fond memories of the Hartz area. Did my ski instructor’s course at the Army Mountain Training Centre there, and met a rather lovely German Lass called Angelica Brodhun who became my companion for a couple of years thereafter. Must go back one day.

'Taking it up the Harz' Booked the Hull-Rotterdam on the 15th April one way (hopefully not too early weatherwise❄️) initial motorway blast through Netherlands on the A15 then German A/B roads with a stop over in Gottingen, then a couple of days mooching the Harz using a mixture of the MRA routes previously provided, Many Thanks Gents (Wapping Robbieben). Had a brief ride through the Harz region a few years back returning from Auschwitz and wanted to return. Also thinking of a day visit to Berlin but not sure if its worth it and not sure of my more southerley route back probably via the Tunnel about a Week to 10 days little adventure to kick 2026 off. Its great being retired !

One wonders if Ms Brodhun shares the same sentiment.
