Grab rail mounting

Does anyone know, or even better have a diagram, of how the grab rail mounts to the back of the bike?

I removed mine recently to experiment with the alternative top box mounting. Now I've come to refit it, it looks as if there are two spacers missing, as when I tighten the two mounting bolts at the sides, the plastic cowling distorts in a unhealthy looking way.

There are two "top hat" shaped spacers in the grab rail itself, not even really spacers, more of a metal collar so the bolt isn't clamping direct onto the plastic. I'm pretty sure I can't have misplaced two spacers when I dismantled it.

Can anyone help? Thanks

Right i'm not technical, but took my rail off last night and there are spacers for all the holes they push into the recess and sit flush with the body if that makes sense, can take a pic if need be???

I did the same thing and the spacers dropped down under the 2nd silver cover.

I continued to take out the 6 black screws and managed to retrive them quite easily

Just take your time and remember what goes where

Hmm I was wondering if something might have dropped into the bodywork ... Probably lost for good if it did!

Time to dismantle again and have a look I think!

I'm definitely missing those spacers, and I can't see I could have failed to notice both of them when taking it off. Maybe they were missing from my bike in the first place ... or maybe I'm just being a spaz.

I'l try and source some replacements, shouldn't be too hard.

The spacers for the side bolts def can drop inside the bodywork. One of mine did. It was a pig to fish out. Ill bet they are in there if they havent worked there way out at some stage.

I've had most of the rear bodywork off recently to do some preventative maintenance, and I didn't see em Also I've been riding over some pretty rough terrain recently so it's quite possible the offending articles could be in the middle of Derbyshire, probably at the bottom of a ford
