I have recently bought an 08 GSA and was dismayed to find fuel on the top of the fuel pump fitting (LHS of tank) to the extent it was dripping off the exhaust onto the floor after a 50 mile ride, and suspected the QD fuel line fittings, as frequently discussed on this forum. On closer examination, I discovered the previous owner have changed the female fitting for a metal one but retained a plastic male, neither being the source of my leak. The female fitting was actually loose in the pump housing/cap and I got at least another half turn of tightening.
I am left with a minute leak, a few milliliters per 25 miles which I hoped 3 bond silicon would seal, but it hasn't and now the issue I believe is that the female coupling threads are not bedded/coated in the green gunge I see when I google the subject, which is stated as a non hardening sealant.
Does anyone know the specification of this sealant or have a link, I am going to try the float conversion advertised on ebay in a few weeks as my fuel gauge doesn't work and don't fancy an endless stream of replaced fuel strips and whilst the pump housing/cap is out of the tank it gives good access to take time to really seal the female coupling.
Any pearls of wisdom very much appreciated, regards Ian
