Blue Sweeper has agreed to lead another sojourn around the Green Lanes of Surrey on Sunday 28 March.

You'll either need a light-weight dual-sport machine, or, at a push, a bigger off-road bike with appropriate tyres, arms like Popeye and bollox the size of Dorset (with a wallet to match) to take part.

Be at Newlands Corner, A25, Surrey at 10.00hrs that day or miss out!

It'll be a hoot!

Greg

Hmmm, muddy stuff....

Greg

Is there somewhere to leave a car and trailer near the RV point?

If there is, count me in!

If anyone else from round my way or inbetween wants to go but doesn't fancy a long ride on tarmac to get there, I'll have space on the trailer for another bike.

There's an ample-sized and free car park at the rendezvous point. (But bring a lock to secure your trailer.)

Greg

The start has a very large car park and has a cafe where they serve the most excelent of bacon rolls and tea.

The route is about 50 miles and we will have plenty of rest stops as we make our way round. Lunch will be at the "Wootten Hatch" public house, where they don't mind bikers turning up with muddy boots.

There will be all sorts of terrain to tackle, hills, chalk, mud, clay, gravel, flint, water and sand through wooded area's and open ground. During the summer I often ride the whole route on my GS Adventure, but now during the "muddy season" I give it a miss and use the KTM instead.

We expect to be back at the car park at about 3pm. The trip meter on my bike (for the last run) shows that the engine was running for just over 5 hours, and that included my 45 mile ride to Guildford and return.

How many people expected, what sort of bikes, levels of competence etc. What is dual sport ???
Basically I would love to come and do some off roading on my DT 125, but if this is another flat out tarmac/green lane blast cross country I'd probably best give it a miss as I am on the slow side of medium slow off road.

But hardest of all was coping with some of the country fragrances!

David,

Greg means a bike capable of going off-road and having suitable tyres. The DT 125 is a very suitable bike for beginners and you are more than welcome. We will not be blasting around the countryside as this is precisely what the opponents to off-road motorcycling think we do!

Roy.

See you on the 28th then.
Phew, that puts off having to sell the DT for another month......(so long as I use it, the wife says I can keep it....)

Bugger,

Having just posted on another thread, I cannot make it as travelling to Wales for three days of greenlaning.

Still have a good time

Andrew

Greg

If I can sort myself out with a trailer, I hope to join you.

Cheers

Pedro

OK folks I am confirmed with this. However it will mean a 5:30 start for me and the missus (to get back in time to pick up the DT to get to the meet). So if it is cancelled, will someone please please let me know either here or at [email protected]
Thanks.

Essex Contingent

Sounds like a great day, I'm up for it.

There is room in my trailer for 1 maybe 2 more bikes if any one wants a lift.

Dave

Trailer sorted, also will be bringing 2 amigos - the lure of the wombats was too great !

DAMN - Damn - Damn !!!

Flying to Aus on the 29th march ( hopefully )- so won't have a bike )

Now if someone had a spare bike ? ..............

Phil

I have a spare one

but only for those challenged in the leg department !

What have I done?!!!

I've been looking forward to this for weeks. I've bust my arse to get a second set of wheels and tyres, bar-risers etc - it's all ready to go. I've even been to the optician to get my peepers sorted.

I tried to be clever and avoid last Sunday as it was Mother's Day and I knew I'd get grief if I went out. What I forgot was the amount of grief I'd get if I went out on the 28th - it's SWMBO's birthday!!!

Sorry guys, I guess that I'll have to miss out.

Please fix another date soon!

:tears

i've worn glasses since I was 11 but, for the first time in 25 years, I've gone for contact lenses. They make sticking a helmet on and riding in the rain much easier. However, I'll have to buy a tinted visor or some more sunnies as the ones I have are prescription!
