Hi,

It's a long story , but I will shortly be moving a KTM 250 6 day bike from the dealer in Bromley to my home in Canterbury.

The road route is obviously a combination of the A2/M2 but I wondered if there were any better routes - ideally green lanes .
Can anyone help me out here please ?

Thanks,

Nick

Yep.

There isn't one .

There are some small sections along the downs below Wrotham......they tend to follow the ancient 'pilgrim's way' and if you do a search on that in Google images, then compare the resulting maps with the current OS maps, you'll find a dozen or so miles E>W (or in your case, W>E) that are legally rideable, but unless you're prepared to piss off the horse shaggers on 'their' bridleways  then you are in for a lot of crosslinking on tarmac, or illegal riding on footpaths (that used to be proper ancient roads)

EDIT.....there are also some nice little sections around Newland's corner and down towards Reigate, but my knowledge of those is a decade out of date and that may be well off your route anyway....There are certainly a load of really nice bridleways out around Abinger Hammer :augie

A2/M2 is possibly the worst road on the planet. I would go Bromley - Sevenoaks - Wrotham (A25) then B2016 (Seven mile lane) - Mereworth, then A26 to Teston then West Farleigh, Coxheath, Boughton Monchelsea, Langley, Headcorn, Smarden, Pluckley, Charing, Chilham, Canterbury. No green lanes but a lovely ride.

I'm loving your Kwak in the For Sale section BTW

Their are some fairly decent byways starting at Eynesford and following the North Downs linked by mostly B roads. Get to Maidstone and I/we will lead you on a nice route to Canterbury via the Pilgrims Way and taking in Shadoxhurst, Wye and Chilham on green lanes and minor back roads

Hope I'm not too late
