Hi folks,

I haven’t found any recent posts about this so am asking for help…...have you any suggestions for green lane type riding in Ireland. I know it is a bit of a grey area here but if there were any forest tracks, bog roads, other unpaved roads that you could suggest it would be greatly appreciated. I am particularly interested in the NI/Donegal areas or the Northern half of the island, but anywhere at all in Ireland could get a visit if you thought it was good. Am going to hit the ferry as well to try some of the TET in Wales and England, but would be nice to get some practice in closer to home.

Cheers,

David Morton on here knows a few

How experienced are you ??

You know not to go on your own especially at this time of year when its so cold etc etc

Pay your £12 subs for the year and you get access to more sections and more importantly the messaging system

Hi Peebee, and welcome. As Dr F says, stump up the subs and you'll find it well worth the investment.

I've just acquired a Beta Alp 4.0 I was gonna be asking the same question in the near future. What I do know is that over here we don't enjoy the same recognized and well mapped network of green lanes as they do across the water. I've done some googling of what is available in NI / ROI and have not fund much. I've been told there are a few local lads who have been 'green laning' in Donegal for a few years but have yet to get chatting to one of them.

Hopefully someone on here knows of something.

Be also interested in the Cork area, there doesn't seem to be much available.

Loads of unsurfaced roads in Donegal, if you go onto Google maps and spend some time street viewing & studying the aerial photography, you will find them. As a starter check out the area north of Greencastle, there is an unsurfaced loop there.

Brian McGirr in Enniskillen knows a wealth of these in Donegal. Took a few of us out one day, best days craic in ages, was ballaxed after it as I was on an F650 with the wrong tires....

Thanks for that, will get the Visa out. Haven't got a lot of off-road experience, mostly gravel, and have done the Level One course in Wales.

I’m off roading in Donegal regularly with my Land Rover defender there’s thousands of acres of land for it. But every inch of land has an owner and unless your with someone who knows the area and owners you will get into trouble.
