Hello all,

Monday's a bank holiday.

Does anyone feel like 2-3 hours of casual green laning somewhere in the Newlands Corner area, on Monday morning?

Tourance-friendly!

(It has been so dry, you could probably do most lanes on Super Diablo Corsa whatsits at the moment).

If we meet at 8 at the car park at Newlands Corner, we can get in a couple of hours before a nice tea break...

Anyone keen?

Well what a cracking ride out. Thanks again to Paul G for getting off his arse and organising something.

I was in two minds at first...

I agree, what a thoroughly great morning.

This area really is fantastic - narrow rutted tracks under leafy canopies, woodland access roads, steep climbs up chalk escarpments, flinty tracks between fields.....beautiful and really varied.

Thanks for the great company, can't wait for the next one.

Another part of the fun was swapping bikes - the super slick and powerful katoom and the old banger R80 couldn't have been much more different, but each was fantastic and very capable in its own way and it was great to ride them head to head.

It didn't respond well to a root sticking out on Hogden Lane - can't wait for it to finish fixing up.

You'd be more than welcome mate. Paul and I are hardly off road gods so it'll only be easyish lanes. Nice and chilled.

What route did you take?:

We initially played around on Ponds Lane, Ride Lane and another track, all south of Shere. (How pretty is Shere...)?!

Then we turned north east and picked up Beggars Lane where it meets the A25 and followed that all the way up to the A246 just outside Leatherhead. Lots of varied surfaces - nothing too challenging but I suspect it would be different after a few weeks of rain.....
