Hello again folks,
I am now looking to get my first bike and with the plethora of equipment out there, I was interested to know if there was a reasonable rating system for helmets, boots and jackets / trousers.
I know of the EC and Gold standards for helmets, but these can be from £50 to £300 and more, with brand and painting at a premium etc.
I noted in one of the boot posts, someone preferred MTX boots for their higher level of protection - how do these move up / down in scale etc?
I know that Gore tex will keep you dry and leathers will last longer should be unlucky enough to need them, but what about the various levels of internal padding and back guards etc?
Many questions I know for a newbie, but any useful answers are appreciated.
