The Rheinheitsgebot German Purity Laws forbid bier to have any ingredients other than hops, barley, water and yeast. It changed a wee bit in the early 90's but there are still nae chemicals allowed.
The bier still tastes guid mind you. Nae o' yer "Real Ale" pish ower there...
