Just an enquiry to the masses about the quality of the above discs.
My original rear disc is about shot so looking for a replacement. Don't really feel like paying the exorbantant cost for an original from BWM. Fleabay have some Grimeca discs at a reasonable price. (MotobinsBMW) Just not sure if I'm better off going for the original stuff or aftermarket.

Your thoughts.
Cheers Billy

My own experience of things is, providing its stainless steel and of decent quality you’ll be fine. As far as I know, Grimeca are a good make.

I’ve tried two sets of cast iron disc in the past, both sets were Catherine wheels of rusting hell and for the same reason I wouldn’t buy steel :thumb2

I brought a Grimeca rear disc for my 1100R,a year ago. Excellent quality and fit, probably better then O.E.Buy with confidence :comfort

I've got Grimeca front and rear, all seem very good. Much cheaper.

Would always tend to go for a known name for disks, though. I had some 'Stealth' brand disks for another bike, and they were awful - lasted less than 10,000 miles

Stainless,Got mine off Ebay from motobins.Best to fit new pads when fitting a new disc. :rob

One last question..... I have just bought the Gremica disc for my GSA. Do I need to replace the bolts that hold the disc onto the hub. Are they single use bolts?

Thanks, Billy

They are only regarded as single use because the new ones use pre coated loctite, add your own loctite they should be good to go.

picked up this on the Yamaha diversions forum, may be of interest :augie

I found a little company down Coventry way that make discs for all bikes. I had to replace my front disc on my XJ600s and the cost from yamaha was the £130 mark So I thought stuff that, I'll ring around and try the breakers etc. But stumbled across a company that make them (and other bits and bobs) for £30! I think that was just a bargain/sale item or something but I've had it fitted and its works fine

p.s If you plan to go there and pick one up be careful due to speed traps near the Ind Est.

Thought I'd pass this little bit of valuable info on
