Alright!

So I've had the above for a wee while now and thought it may be time to investigate. 06 GSA with 37k on the clock. The noise eminating from the engine or directly below and forward of me and seems to be more accentuated anything over 1st gear, and esp when coming to stop just before pulling the clutch in. Noise seems to go away when pulling the clutch in at all speeds. Oil levels are fine, and it was serviced earlier this year.

Short of taking it to the doctors, I searched the forums for similar issues but alas no joy.

Thanking in advance as always...

Flog it quick

If it happens only when moving it is driveline related eg clutch/gearbox/driveshaft/final drive.

If it occurs when not moving it is most likely engine/clutch related.

My guess is the clutch, but its just a guess. Could also be a noisy gearbox bearing assuming the noise stops once the bike comes to a stop.

Assuming it is out of warranty, and seeing as you live in that London, I would go and see Mr Steptoe and ask his opinion.

Sounds just like the noise (and occurs at the same times) I had on my 1100 which is currently awaiting a bill of well over a grand at Cambridge Motorcycles for a new clutch and recon gearbox.
The clutch was shot and the bearings in the gearbox were also. This had caused some other damage to the gearbox also.
I love to brighten peoples days:thumb2

Start with cheap stuff. A knackered alternator belt can sound quite rough.

Nice...:barf

I 'm certainly hoping the prognosis is tame, but always prepare for the worst and be pleasantly surprised.
