First off, if this is posted inthe wrong section, i appologise and can the mods move it

As the title suggests, a bit of a ride up to NW Scotland, and we'd though we would have a bit of a shoot out

Hope you enjoy......and if nothing else, check the roads and scenery, and get yourself up there. Awesome place

Yes, enjoyed that.
I tested the XR and have to say it was not for me which surprised the heck out of me. I was expecting the kind of smoothness you get from a Jap 4 cylinder. About a mile or so away from the dealer I reached a roundabout and by that time I had made up my mind that I couldn't live with the high frequency bar vibrations, so I turned back and returned it to the dealer.
The guy who said he didn't get on with the quick shifter on the GS (if my memory serves me right) almost certainly wasn't using it as intended i.e. downshift with a closed throttle and upshift on the gas while accelerating (except 1 to 2nd when use the clutch), any other time use the clutch.
I have come back to a GS since my last one, a '13 model LC, with a Ducati V twin and a Honda 4 cylinder in between. The '16 GS is so much better than my '13 model not least because I can now find neutral at traffic lights/jams.
I've a fair bit of experience of Ducati V twins and have to say that in town traffic conditions the GS is more flexible and easier to ride even against the variable valve timing system on the latest Ducatis. I do like the colour scheme on the Pike's Peak version though but not enough to buy one.

Enjoyed that. Interesting, the number of votes for the Duke....just hope you get a good dealer to go with it. :blast

I'd have any of them if they were given to me, but as I can only afford one bike atm, I bought a GS. Does everything I want it to and I don't need 150bhp and don't want chain drive. Horses for courses.

If you use a bike everyday (like wot I do) the obvious clear winner is the GS, the others are a mere playthings in comparison - which plaything you choose depends upon what floats your boat.

Had they ridden them for an hour through city traffic, and an hour of congested motorway, it would have given a more balanced review, and probably a different conclusion, however I enjoyed it and many thanks for posting it. :thumb2

I agree totally, they all look good on paper but you need to do a couple hundred miles on each to find what suits you best .

good review, nice to see you all sporting the correct haircut.Imagine using the ktm /ducati daily for everything and having to find dealer support if it does play up! I'll keep the gs:)

Best statement was....The GS-TE .........TE stands for Ticks Everything!

So, any advice on the Lancaster one way system?

Multistrada awesome engine, let down by sub standard suspension and quality. Dont miss it and the GS is way better with luggage and passenger. S1 motor has too much buzz, tiresome.
Not tried KTM.

Spot on...To make a proper judgment you need a bigger mix of riding situations.
