gs 1100 rear shock

Hi Guys ans girls. I've just had my old rusty shock bottom out on me..just what I needed. At the moment unemployed.
Is there any one out there who has put a new shock eg Ohlins onto their 1100 and taken off a perfectly good rear shock which is now gathering dust on your garage shelf.
If this is the case I think I could afford about £70 to stop me bouncing up and down the road.
I would be most grateful , eternally grateful .

Alan save a bit more and have your shock rebuilt will cost you £75 plus postage. yours just needs a refurb is all and a 'valve' braised on so it can be refilled with gas/oil.

this reply might be worth thinking about if you don't find a nearly new replacement.

I have Wilbers.. but it has to be said that the OE shocks are pretty damned good. and if you're on a budget then having them refurbed is the ideal solution. £75 compared with - £400+ = no contest when money is tight. I had a windfall when an offer came up on this site for a group buy. so went for it. If that hadn't happened then having the OE shocks refurbed would definitely be on my agenda.
The biggest pain would be being without the bike for 10 days or so.. but worth it in the end I guess.

Yes you've hit the nail on the head, 10 days without my baby...can't do it!!! I ride every day even if it's only around to the Heine Gerrike shop for a cup of tea with my friends. I'm quite light 70 kg so can just about put up with the poor ride at the moment.But don't like to see my baby in this condition. Al

Not promising anything but I might have an 1100 rear shock stashed at my ma's.
It was working OK but the damping adjuster had seized.
I'll have a rummage later today and get back to you.

Unfortunately if it is an 1150 shock, it won't fit an 1100 - different shock to swingarm fitting (1100 is a 'fork', 1150 a standard type 'eye').

Thanks for the offer Chris, 1150 wont fit. cheers. Have ordered a second hand one from e bay usa. 200 $ Just waiting on it. Just been told my rear wheel bearing is dodgey now. Oh Gawd!
