Hi guys,
A group of us set off from Sheffield last Sunday morning, heading for a day around the Scottish borders and the Northumberland national park.
We didn't get far, A1 actually before a 12mth 1200gs broke down, full of fuel but faded away. Rang BMW recovery, 25mins later he arrives.
Bet I know what it is he says, fuel pump switch its the only thing that goes wrong, Mmmmm any way its the only spare he carries in his van. Off comes the N/s/f tank side panel, a circular vented plastic cover to accsess the swich which has a heat sink?? Replaced the corroded switch, instant start and off to the borders we went 1hour later.
This switch obviously needs cooling air by design, unfortunately it is going to get plenty of cooling water with it at times!!! which it can't cope with.
The question is fellar's, what does it do?????????????
My thanks in advance gsron
