Picking up a new 1300 on Saturday . I am with Bikesure. .i have 9 years NCB. I want 8000 miles per year .the value i put was a conservative £23 value on it .i. am 75 years old . Last year I paid about £400 incl kit . Bikesure £1200. Bemoto want £680 . Plus a tracker fitted .any one else getting robbed

Could it be that the new 1300 GS is not fully onto the system yet. that price is stupid.

Surely the 1300GS is going to be top of the thieves most-wanted list in 2024.

Just swapped mine over, am with Bemoto, it went up from £532 for the year to £572 going from a 2022 1250GSA to the new 1300. I’m 46 with 7years NCB, bike is garaged, no alarm or tracker required by the insurance.

Mate of mine has just been hunting for the few broker willings to quote

First one was north of 1K

The second was £700

As his current insurer couldn't quote, they refunded his premium so he sort of got a £350 contribution

Still hell of a lot

Even today the R1300GS is not on Devit/BMW's system, they make a call or ask you to hold , £48.00 extra on policy and £35.00 ammendment fee, I was expecting more!

I’d have been delighted with a grand. 700, I think I’d have fainted.

My renewal for the 1300 (it renews on the 16th Jan) ended up being £622 fully comp, protected no claims, but they added the stipulation of tracker. Considering some of the posts on here I should consider myself lucky 😳

Hi, new here as stumbled across the thread trying to research insurance for GS1300. Currently riding a 2121 1250 Adventure TE with annual premium of £321.88 with Bemoto which expires next week. To renew with the GS1300 was an increase to £401.65 with Datatool tracker installed (currently have no security on the 1250). A bit of shopping around and Bikesure offered a comprehensive policy underwritten by Ageas with an annual premium of £356.94 with no security, that's no BMW alarm/immobiliser or tracker.

For reference, 50y/o, 3 yr. ncb, insured value £22.5k, garaged at home with annual mileage of 4k.

Many people wouldn't even quote and I also had some stupid figures thrown at me and the comparison sites threw up nothing.

I haven't got any affiliation with Bikesure but they were brilliant on the phone and restored my faith a little, hopefully it might help others.

I'm 6 months into my policy (Devit), for a 2020 GSA £98.00 premium, to change to a 1300GS with luggage they've added £48.00 provided a tracker is fitted. On collecting the bike the dealer didn't add the tracker to the invoice. Bennetts were £380.00 no tracker, both insurers had to quote me as a 1250 - surely the prices in other posts are post code weighted.

Possibly. Although I’d have seen that sort of premium on other bikes I’ve own

My GSA policy expires on Sunday with Bemoto and the renewal for that came back at £306 (about £30 less than last year) but the 1300 was just about a £100 increase with the tracker fitted and they wouldn't even cover without the tracker. The tracker install plus subscription if I take it over 2 years would effectively add £300 per annum to the insurance.

The whole thing seems so illogical, I don't think it helps when it is a new vehicle that isn't necessarily set up on the insurers systems. Maybe being quoted as a 1250 was a stroke of luck as the 1300 seems to be universally more expensive to cover.

Have you tried Devit Motorrad, you'll have make a phone call.

Weird. Tried to insure my new 1300 today with a tracker installed. Absolutely no one would insure me. ST18 area.

The current insurer is Hastings. Got a quote before Xmas and would have been a £166 increase for 6 months. Came to take policy today sorry can't insure you.

Eventually tried IAM Cornmarket and they would insure me as an IAM National Observer. However its was £446.

53yrs old. 9yrs NCD. Crazy situation and according to dealers they are having people cancel orders as they can't get insurance.

Bennetts and BeMoto said try again end of Jan and it might be better.

You would have thought bmw would have got their act together sounds like they havent supplied the insurance industry with some key info on the bikes or got approvals through for the security?

It was on my potential purchase list but wont buy whilst this farce is going on.

I got mine sorted on Friday with Bikesure. Had to have a tracker, but was pretty happy with £470. Motorad/ devit, Bennetts, Bemoto wouldn’t cover it at all.

Had you tried to get quotes from the others (Bennet's in particular) by phoning them up or was it just via an online quote.
I couldn't get an online quote from Bennetts (nor others) but when I phoned up I got a reasonable quote (no tracker or disc lock or extra security etc. requirement.).
Think they said they can't give automatic online quotes yet for the 1300 and have to put each case to an assessor\advisor so it's only over the phone (or maybe Chat??).

Strange I did call them. Depends who you get I guess.

My 1300 is due mid March and yes not a single quote available online with the usual suspects! I have a feeling this is going to be expensive, outgoing 1250 was £190 last June🫣
