Just as soon as I remember my login and password  (to download it) I’ll be trying it out!!!

Yes the software works fine, but if you haven't yet ordered there has been a significant hike in the price from today to coincide with the new software release (Luckily I bought one last week from Sean at Biketec)

I've managed to download the software and installed it on my desktop PC, after installing it and running it with the GS-911 plugged in, it updates it, pretty slick

This is the interface for setting the service reminders (not that mine have this feature, but it has been commented on here).

And the one for calibrating the Idle Actuators, seems simple enough, just push that button .. :augie

This is a BETA Release ...

Not wanting to pee in anyone's pool or anything, just a gentle reminder that this is a Beta release of software.

That means it has been a testing cycle, during which some volunteer GS-911 owners tested the basic functions of the new software and provided feedback.

The Beta release fixes the issues we reported back to Hex, and should now function properly. However there may still be one or two glitches, some users are reporting the odd message or two implying something is not quite right, but the software works fine. So do not be disappointed if you do see one of these benign messages.

They will provide a full release when these trivial bugs are resolved.

If you are thinking of getting one, there is no need to wait until the software provides certain features, the units are fully upgradeable, by the software. I have had mine since the early release, after upgrading to this latest Beta release it has exactly the same functionality as the new units they ship today. I believe new units have free updates for one year, but they are now selling two versions: basic and professional. The basic is limited to 10 machines ( by recording the VIN number) and free updates for one year; the pro is not so limited.

Oh dear!!! that Beta release is a bit of a stinker! nothing worked :( everything I tried to do, the software just hung, we really are beta testers aren't we LOL

Back to the previous release until they fix it I guess :D

there has been a significant hike in the price from today to coincide with the new software release.....

What a coincidence, just as I had scraped together enough to pay for one. I've emailed to ask if they foresee a drop in price, I guess I already know the answer.

Meanwhile in the real world, the credit crunch continues......

Amazed to get a quick reply from Sean at Biketec regarding the cost. He explained that the price increase is due to the added functionality with the latest upgrade, taking the unit from an emergency diagnostic unit into a fully capable service unit and was sympathetic about things, he sounds like a decent chap with no axe to grind.

Whilst I fully understand that this firmware/software capability increase has a development cost attached to the Hexcode team, the same physical item you could buy last week for less money is what you still get in the box this week, which I expect has the same physical production costs. They must be taking a leaf out of Bill Gates's business model, look where it got him and Microshaft.:D

I guess I'll just have to save another 40 Euros up to buy one (so I can have all that extra functionality available that I'll probably never use.):nenau

I only earn £7 an hour FFS and by the time Gordon Broon takes his slice from my wagepacket thats another entire day at work just to pay for the difference now being charged. :(

Well, there's 2 of us saving for one - anyone else??? There's no harm in trying for another group buy.....
If I were you I'd ask Sean at Biketec if he's interested in a group buy, how many, how much each, then start a new thread asking for participants

Ebbo, before you abandon the new release entirely, did you click on the "Test the Interface" button ?
You do need to do that, with the GS-911 attached to the USB port, to install the firmware upgrade on to the GS-911 unit.

Actually, I mailed one of the team, he asked if I was running the latest beta release (I thought I was!), I checked this morning and I wasn't  So, I've downloaded the 'latest' release (two days newer!) and will try that tonight, watch this space :D

I did use the 'interface test' last night, that worked perfectly... but nothing else did :D

Cheers, Martin!

Had a play around with the new software today, all works fine for my 06 1200GSA, look forward to when they introduce the servo ABS bleed test and static test

Makes you wonder why BMW don't just tweak their firmware and break it? :nenau

Installed 903.7 software to the laptop and tried that (was on 903.6) its no different at all, just locks up. I've mailed off the log files to be looked at for a possible fix

Sorry to not be sympathetic......:aidan

But if you think you need one of these things.... There are a LOT more people in the world less well-off than you. :rob

Al...

As far as I know you can only use this tool on a BMW motorcycle.... (implies vast wealth to 4/5ths of the world's poplulation...)

+1 for a group buy, I need to save every penny.:thumb2

+1 for a group buy too.

I enquired about being the UK distributor for these. Didn't take it any further as wondered just how many i'd sell.

And i'd have been selling them bang on what they recommend as the RRP. Not the prices i've seen :augie
