If I were to fit the Ohlins, front & rear from my standard GS to a GSA by what amount would it reduce the seat height? (My shocks are on the softest setting if this will make a difference)

I'm 5'9" & when I tested the GSA with low seat option that was fine in the height stakes but due to the reduced padding it was less comfortable than my standard GS seat. Would reducing the height by fitting the Ohlins as stated above enable me to use the standard GSA seat? I generally run with my current bike on the low (840mm) position but can get away with the high (860mm) setting - I note the GSA seat height is stated @ 900mm - what would the Ohlins drop this to?

Any info / advice gratefully received.

When i fitted Ohlins to my GS the ride height when up by about 20mm, so you may not notice too much difference with a GSA and work out about the same. If it does lower it, don't forget the impact on the lean angle for the sidestand and the the amount of effort to get it onto the centrestand.

Sorry not much useful info, but i'm sure the others will all pitch in with exact specs,

I did this to my GSA and seat height appears/feels to be the same as GS with Standard seat on high setting (I'll measure later and let you know)
As jpisace says you will need GS Centre stand which also needs stops filing slightly and preferably side stand as road camber can be issue if retaining GSA s/stand.

Ade , if micky wheeler's at the shop next time ur there, then see if u can blag a sit on his adventure. Its got the Ohlins off a std gs

Lower is the answer

Mick’s Adv with 1150 Ohlins sits lower than a standard 1150 with 1150 Ohlins

But then again an 1150 with 1150 Ohlins sits higher than an 1150 with standard units

With it so far?

You may recall I had a quick spin in Germany last year when I was curious about the Chip. No problems from what I recall re handling

god thats an ugly mugshot - did u kill my brother?? Gsman 1 been into day - on crutches

Seat heights as measured today

Bigbadben's GS1150 with standard suspension 850mm

My GSA with GS Ohlins & alloys 855mm

Imagine difference will be down to suspension set up/wear.

The Adv with a GS 'Lite' seat & rack on it is lower than a std Adv. I'd estimate the high setting on my Adv with a 'Lite' seat on it was still a good couple of cm lower than the Adv.

If you've got a mate with an Adv, ask him if you can swap the seat/rack and try it - it's simple spanner work & will take under an hour to try it out...

Mike:)

Are your alloys the smaller wheels from the 1100S? If so they'll also reduce the seat height further l suppose. Might be needing leg extensions I think;)

1100S/1150R which drop front by approx 1" compared to 19" front. When I fit standard wheels I don't notice any real difference in seat height.
Mine has standard seat so still leaves Low seat option.
