GS Alternator

It's my understanding that the GSA has a 720 watt alternator and the GS has ??? (not sure).

However, my question is is the alternator on the standard GS up to putting all the extras on including lights, charging your IPOD, phone, GPS, etc?

Anyone ever had a problem here? Is there a current threshold.... or it's no problem and nothing need be done.

AFAIK there's (allegedly) more problems when the engine isn't running compared to whether the alternator is adequate.

Not sure if this is correct but I was told that if the bike was fitted with hot grips when new then it will have the more powerful generator which on mine is happy running two sets of aux lights and the grips

Yep thats what I thought too - and I think thats regardless of whether or not it's an Adv - could be wrong on that though.

IIRC that was correct for the 1150.
