Hi,

I'm hoping someone will run with this if they are not already thinking along these lines.

At the Day in the dirt event on Saturday Gareth Barraclough announced the 2010 GS challenge would be run at the Walter's Area by the Off road School team on 31 July and 1 August (I think). The event based on the skills learnt on the courses plus some map reading. Its an open competion with three winners to be sponsored by BMW to attend the international final in South Africa (travel, clothing, bikes etc...).

Simon Pavey promised to run (or was it drink) a beer tent, so it could be quite a spectacle.

Does anyone fancy organising a GSer weekend for spectators and competitors? The Ancient Briton has a field that might do. I would fancy coming down and I don't think I will be the only one.

Gareth has promised more information soon.

Just a thought.

Had a fantastic day in the dirt and riding there and back again.

Ride safe,

Path.

Not sure about those dates as they're on factory fortnight and many people will be on holiday, probably me included.

When you say event what exactly do you mean, are we talk National GS weekend here or a field for attendees to camp in.

How many people (UKGSER's) are comitted to going to this event.

I would have thought that Pavey/BMW would be arranging the weekend accom side of things.

Hi PW,

There were no more details given at the meeting. At present I don't think anyoneis signed up for it. How much Pavey et al will do on accommodation I couldn't say.

Thought you might like the heads up. I hadn't seen anything else about it on the site. May be just wait and see.

Regards,

Path.

I have a campsite opposite the training ground if that interests anyone and am sure I can convince the wife to do a group discount if interested.

Secure parking, bike wash, campfire and no need to bring tool should you require to do self repairs as I have most here.

Where ever you people stay, you will enjoy yourselves.

Nice one Jondd,

Sounds like a great option and a site sponsor to boot.:thumb2

Been meaning to come and pay you a visit, I'll try and get a couple of tossers together for a winter camp.

I was there on the basic course the other week and they mentioned this, i fancy going to watch....

I stayed at a b & b about 9 miles away, they also have several cottages for rent, with housekeeping thrown in.

Never mind watching... how do we enter???

I got a reply from Si Pavey - he says that they should be accepting entries at the end of the month.. and that I should chase him if I haven't heard anything by then :blast
