I’m thinking about changing, the dealer asked if I would like to order a bike with the Comfort Seats?

Question is, how do the Comfort seats compare to the standard seats?

My Triple Black came with the Exclusive seats as standard which have been by far the most comfortable seats that I have ever had on an LC.

Can anyone tell me if the Comfort seat is the same as the exclusive seat but without the embossed GS logo?

The Triple Black R1200GS has the comfort seats fitted as standard

They are black with the grey side panel infill as per this photo

I can't now remember the reasons, but when I bought a new GS last March I came to the conclusion that the comfort seats are not the same as the Exclusive seats so splashed out about £500 on the latter. I have been very pleased with the rider seat which was great from the start but has also improved with use, and now after 6500 miles I would say it is probably the most comfortable I have had on any bike. My wife feels the same about the pillion seat.

The comfort seats on the GS triple black look better and are comfier than the standard seats on the gsa triple black. Had both so mine is an informed opinion from experience. Can’t comment on exclusive ones as not tried

I thought that the seats on the gorgeous T/B featured above with the GS emblem were actually the exclusive seat and that the comfort seat was a different seat?

Yes - I agree, I'm pretty sure when I looked into this the Comfort and Exclusive seats looked different and had different part numbers, though if my Antipodean namesake can show this is not the case, then I will bow to his superior knowledge and curse the fact that I could have got the same thing for less money by going for the comfort option! The only thing I don't particularly like about the Exclusive is the embroidered GS logo, but embroidered patterns on seats are just a pet hate of mine anyway.

Here are the Exclusive seats on my GS:

That's weird Ian as I thought the GSA seats were comfier than the TB GS comfort seats hence the reason why I have a 700 mile old set of comfort seats sat in a box in my loft and a set of TB GSA seats on my TB GS :D

Fred,
I didn’t think that the Triple Black came with a seat option did it?
My bike is an E4 2016 T/B and arrived with the exclusive seats as standard same sears as yours with logo, and I find that these particular seats are very comfortable.
I’m just trying to find out if the comfort seat is/feels the same.

Unless the spec has changed the seats on the TE and the Exclusive are the same or at least they were in 2017 when I bought mine. You can get a comfort seat as an upgrade at point of purchase, which I did, or as a separate part at a later date. They don't have the grey bits as per the triple black of 2016..

Having both I'm not sure the comfort seat is a significant improvement!

Is there some confusion here between the perfectly standard seats on the GS Exclusive bike, which was a model name introduced in 2017 (in UK market basically a TE with different paint) and the Exclusive seats which were an option on some models and in some markets predating that?

While it seems that the GS TB came with the Exclusive seats, they were not available, even as an option on other models. I bought mine from Rainbow BMW, now sadly defunct, I believe due to retirement of the owner, and I think they used to buy these in from Europe in small quantities, and offer them on eBay, which is how I bought mine.

Hope that you are pleased to hear that Rainbow has been re-born under the Alan Jeffries ownership!

What I posted is certainly how I feel having had both. Personal I know but the logo’d comfort seat that was standard on the GS TB is way comfier. If the price is right and you don’t want yours please let me know by pm

Cheers Ian

I think it is more a takeover than a rebirth, so I'm not sure that it will be the same. For example, Rainbow provided access to BMW part numbers and diagrams through their website, which made it easy to identify what you wanted, plus they were very helpful on parts ordering, hence I used them for quite a few bits and pieces. I don't see anything equivalent on the Alan Jeffries site, or at least I haven't found it so far.

Just for info, on my 2017 Exclusive invoice it says comfort seat high, and is all black with GS logo, damn comfy and missus loves it, looks like picture below.

So that goes to show that the "Comfort" seat and the "Exclusive" seat ARE different - at least in appearance, as the Exclusive seat has a two-tone cover. Whether they differ in comfort is more debatable - could be that the Exclusive has a gel insert and the Comfort just has deeper foam which I think I read somewhere, but on the other hand they may be identical internally, but in any case must have different part numbers due to the different covers.

Fred, I’ve used Jefferies for a good while and whereas you’re correct that parts are not on their site, if you ever need assistance try Paul who’s in charge of parts. Very helpful.
