Hi folks,

Can anyone let me know which heavy duty/ outdoor bike cover will fit my GS?

The old one was too big for my K1200S but doesn't reach the ground all around the GS.

As always, thanks for any advice.

I use DB Covers and the Large Tourer size fits a 1200GS just fine, even over Vario panniers. Cover includes a snap fastening strap under the bike. Ours have lasted between 3-5 years, admittedly under a car port but they are definitely waterproof cos the car port isn't perfect!

The old (but big) Oxford Stormex I have covering my old R1100RS did fine when I borrowed a R1200GSA last year (though I didn't have any luggage on the GS).

I've used an Oxford Stormex (L size) for the past 18 months, and it's maintained it's weatherproofness (!) through out all the crap weather that we've had, particularly the very bad snow in December.

The only minor issue, is that it has faded in the sun, so has gone from black to light grey, but c'est la vie.

A pic for context.....btw, the bike now lives under a car port, but previously didn't.

Just thought I'd add an image of SWMBO's bike in its bedclothes. As you can see, it's a generous fit and reaches down to the ground. I forgot to mention that the cover is also breathable which reduces condensation and presumably therefore rust. We haven't had any rust problems on either of our 2005 bikes, not that that's a scientific proof or anything :)

Like Keith mentions, the covers do fade in colour over time, and eventually the material becomes brittle and starts to tear easily. The useful life on our covers has varied from 3-5 years, as mentioned earlier. I spoke to the chap at DB Covers and he explained that there can be some variation in the material, hence the difference in useful life, but he was surprised at 5 years, 3-4 being more usual. Still, I've been happy enough with the performance and longevity that I'm a repeat customer for the last 7 years or so (had them on previous bikes too).

Thanks everyone, great advice.

I wasted a couple of hours on the Internet and came up with nothing ideal. I really wanted a cover that'll reach the ground and found that the screen height was the biggest problem.

I'm not bothered about the colour fading and have just ordered one from DB Covers.

The pics helped a lot too, thanks for loading them up.

Feel better now that I see I'm not the only one to keep " my precious " outside.

I'd recommend the Waterproof Heavy Duty Cover (Extra Large) from www.dustoffcovers.co.uk.

I have 2. One for my GSA (Fits the GS like a glove and touches the floor), and one for my 650XC. Its way too big for the 650XC, but I wanted two the same so I wouldn't get them mixed up.

Thanks for the link, might need it.

I haven't heard back from DB Covers, they need my card details. Maybe they're closed on Mondays?
