I treated myself to the new GS Helmet a month or two ago following years of Tour X's and most lately a BMW Enduro helmet. The New GS helmet is by far the best 'enduro' type helmet I've had and doesn't suffer from the buffeting or peak vibration of others. I also had it fitted with the BMW comms system, which whilst not perfect, seems to integrate pretty well as a total BMW package and certainly fits in the helmet completely unobtrusively...

Anyway, off to Spain in two weeks for a trip down to Seville and haven't been able to find an alternative visor insert / Pinlock yet - I had a photochromatic one on my last Tour-X which was great in bright sunlight. Anybody know if have tried fitting an alternative to the supplied BMW insert? The Tour-X pinlock shouldn't be that far off, but don't have one to hand...

Looking at the pricelist, it seems BMW do sell a 'double glazed' visor for the GS lid.

Would be interested seeing pics of the fitted comms kit - am tempted by the GS lid myself :thumb2

I'll post a pic of the comms install when I get back to Blighty - sitting in Algeria right now until Friday afternoon.... Very slick install on a Great lid - no regrets on changing.

Can't find the tinted visor online but will have a chat to my dealer.

Thanks - enjoy Algeria :beerjug:

So, if I can get this to work properly, here is my new GS lid showing the BMS Comms control on the left side panel. Nicely integrated...

The charging jack is tucked behind the small sliding door at the base of the back of the helmet. With the small waterproof jack cover on, its a bit of a struggle to get the charging jack in and out of the small storage space, so given its unlikely to ever get wet, you can remove the cover and make it more easily extracatable for charging. The red loop allows which is used to retrieve the jack from inside the helmet can be tucked away behind the sliding door. All in all - nicely protected and kept out of the way.

The earphones are covered by material, still sitting probably a cm or so away from my ears. Sounds is OK - It could be louder, but I have no problems with it. The microphone boom runs down the top of the cheek pad but is fastened behind it.

Finally the microphone sits err.. just where you would expect. I find it probably less obtrusive that a senna or Starcom stick on patch.

All in all I'm impressed with the rattle and vibration free GS helmet - it remains the best I've had. It can feel a little odd when you first try one on with the padding on the crown of your head very obvious, but that feeling seems to quickly disappear.

Thanks for this - really helpful :thumb2
