Perhaps you could treat yourself to a nice holiday in the USA and do a bit of canyon carving instead of English A roads.

If actual GS was 1600cc with 180 HP and tons of torque, we would be here discussing about new generation that should be 1800cc with 200 HP and even more torque.

What would you do without these numbers? or somebody in another country telling you what to think?
You would have to go and ride all the different bikes and choose one based on your own personal feedback and requirements. Unfortunately your thoughts are clouded with meaningless numbers.
When it comes to road riding this latest selection of bikes, the fastest rider will still be in front regardless which bike he is on.
Not ridden the Ducati, but owned a 1290 SAS until I chopped it in for the 1250 GS.
The KTM when ridden hard gets very flighty on the front and can be 'entertaining' at times. It also drones from the air intake. Ultimately a little faster in a straight line with the top end rush, but I'd not swap back.

Tanneman actually Audi became the post-war name for Horch (german) means the same in latin Audi...emerged from NSU then the biggest motorcycle manufacturer in the world that shifted production to these funky rwd NSU cars called prince...The engine became the donor to the then biggest bike and really first superbike the Muench Mannuth...
As for numbers they don't mean much I totally agree when riding fast on backroads...That is why the GS fights way above its class even against pedigree "race" brands like Ducati & KTM...Ready to Race...LOL
But power on top makes bikes fun in certain situations and that is all whats missing from the boxers...IMHO !

True words , said the same myself about the handling .
The R is worse still on the road starting from lower speeds assuming you have the R wheels. I went off on one for a test ride and had to really counter steer like crazy to get in around corners. Operator error to start with so balancing the front end dive and the larger diameter front wheel takes some doing, but ultimately I think the GS is a better road bike (tyres etc taken into account too).
Some will hang you for comments like that ,I still bear the scars of honesty...... The Gs is a better bike in the real world.

A modern GS is a great form of two wheeled transport .
But for some it lacks any character or soul. It’s not a bike you glance back at as you close the garage door .
It’s not a case of justifying ownership!
Some of us ride for pleasure and the feeling it gives . We ride bikes that look good and make you smile when you open the garage door .
It’s a heart thing for some and a head thing for others . Simples.
I guess you do as you needed to comment .

In your humble opinion , I spend hours looking at my GS and find it beautiful . I often sit with her having a chat and a beer , the KTM however is in the shed where it belongs. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder . I only ride for pleasure and the last 350 plus mile rides I did , I did not want to get off it as it just makes me buzz and have not had another bike that gives me that feeling . But your taste and mine are different and I respect that (even thouI can't understand your choices at time lol)
To add I keep trying to have a change and swap bikes with others on a regular basis but find other bikes lacking.. simples .

The bike that makes me smile the most currently is my £2000 Benelli TNT !!
A Benelli that runs, that would make me smile as well.
