Hi tossers. I was watching Mr Farmer's rebuild on his PD with great interest (great job!) as I was contemplating doing the same (ish), anyway, I've started now and would appreciate some help/advice. *I discovered the electrical mounting bracket on RHS of frame, under tank has been badly mullered. *I wondered if anyone had a scrap frame that might be persuaded to cut off this bracket so I can get it welded onto mine! *Or indeed how important is it? *Can I live without it? And, does anyone have any idea how the hell it could get so bent!!?! *I wouldn't be happy to just leave it as is as I am getting the frame powder coated and it would just spoil things.*Also...I'm looking for someone to overhaul my gearbox if anyone could recommend. *On the plus side, the 200ml of oil that was missing from my gearbox has turned up. *Just removed swinging arm and found the oil had taken up temporary residence there, I say temporary as it is now on my shed floor...ho hum! Thanks, John Tosser

Judging from the photos I reckon you could staighten it out well enough in-situ. Gentle tapping using two hammers for the flat parts and pliers or pipe grips for the flanges. Powder coat should cover most signs of graunching!

You may well be in luck,
I have a 83 g/s frame that I will be cutting that same bracket off of,
if it is the same style.(would need to take a looksee)
I can also rebuild your gearbox.

But do they come back to life (Zombie dogs, yay) if you kill off an ST to fake a G/S? :D

Or do a brace of kittens die too?:blast

Once the dogs are gone, they are gone.....

And to kill an ST to make a faker G/S is a double sin, so its a double brace of kittens that get it. :(

Thanks very much for your replies. Think i'll be giving mikeyboy a ring. ta
