Just a quick question..

Do any of highly informed ear-to-the-ground types know if there'll be a price hike on the 1200GS next year? From January?

I'm still struggling with the buy now/wait until March dilema.. if new prices are set to rise then this will effect second-hand prices and may be a good enough exscuse to buy before the end of the year! :)

Any inside information, or past expetrience of BMW general practice?

Many thanks

Paul

I've been looking at a new Adventure, and the price of that will rise £200 in January. Not worth buying a bike early to save that much IMHO.

Regards,

Charles

There is a thread around somewhere. But yes there is a price rise in the offing.

Price increase probably introduced to cover 'unforeseen' costs associated with new model;)

The orginal rumour was a 5% price rise, but if I recall correctly, I now understand it's going to be about 2%.

In the US I would think prices will rise rather sharply, now that the dollar is in the toilet and the Euro is king. Do you think BMW will absorb the 30% to 40% decline in the Greenback?

They should be able to, as some of their four-wheeled models are exclusively built in the US, there should be cost savings as a result of the weak dollar.

Whether they will or not is another question!

Depends on how much the US importer brought forward exchange and at what rate. The price will go up, but it may be still a year away.

Winter sale, but no heated grips. Only £750 off list without the comeback that you have with a dealer. No thanks.

Without the now optional ABS, the 2005 R12GS should be around the same price. Still at least the one on ebay probably had a toolkit and puncture repair kit.

Think it did have heated grips, but it was yellow .... :P

I ordered on Friday and was promised a price hike of at least £190.

The Dealer informed me that the confirmed increase will be published in the first week of the New Year at latest.

For info, I was told to expect the bike to be avialable mid- February, but I will of course test my patience by waiting a further fortnight for an 05 plate.
