Having travelled down to GP at Barcelona with group of bikers we made our way back to Brive France via the Pyrennes and three of us decided to go into Andorra to try and buy some cheap biking gear ( not that I could afford it and the wife would have gone mad if I had had bought anything ) but with tongue in cheek I have to say sadly when we got there sadly eveywhere was closed. But on the way over the Pyrennes two GS riders sped past me through the twisties (I know ,I know, us semi sports bike riders I own a Blackbird ) and because my mates stopped at a bikers park over the mountains and I had not spotted them when I went past I lost them. So there I am trying to figure out where to go when I spot the two GS riders a little further uo the road so I rode up to them and asked the way to Andorra and they too were a little puzzled as to what way we should go but and heres the important part they immediately invited me to join there group. I was about to when my two mates showed up and I gave a sigh of relief. One of the GS riders mates made us all laugh when he told my mates how he had found me crying at the side of the road. I was,nt honestly I was,nt but I really appreciated their invitaion and comradely spirit. We eventually all rode off towards Andorra and withuin a short while the 2 GS riders came flying past . Point well proved fella's. Hopefully the 2 GS riders and their mates will read this and I would just like to say thank you to all of you for your kindness I am now left yet again with the nagging feeling that I should try a GS again.

Oh yes and another interesting thing is that none of us were without grey hair but we were all out there acting like the 16 year olds that we really are.

It does seem that when you get to that 'certain stage' in life when a GS is the bike to have..... you happy to ride with anyone..... :D

what you need is a GS as well as your present bike.. then see which one stays in the garage ;)

You say that, but there are some 'young' GS riders out there. And some other young riders who would like to be GS riders - our 18 year old would love to own a 650, but can't afford anything other than her current 125.

That said, there is something inherently fun in riding a GS :bounce1, regardless of actual age!

Hi Hondated

Sounds like it was me and my mates - hope you had as much fun as we all did :thumb2

Really glad you have picked up on the message. Thanks again. What a day. We suffered all that rain to find Andorra or at least the M/C shops were closed.Apart from remembering how helpful you all were I cannot forget what you said when you said " I had a BB but I never needed all that power..." and I am now thinking the same especially given the rise in fuel prices , insurance etc etc. You never know I may get a GS some day.

Physiojoe - tell whoever "her" is that one day she will be as old as us and she will be able to afford a GS and therefore not to give up hope

Yes I really liked my Blackbird - but I was just going too fast on it - by the time I had gone through the gears I was doing 100+ !!

But the main reason I changed to the GS is the superior ride quality - better riding position and the power band where you really need it 0 - 100 - during the 3 years I owned my bird I had the rear suspension bottom out on me twice in our pot-holed roads - thankfully on both times the bike was not leant over:mad:

Going from the bird to the GS felt like I needed a set of steps and sometimes still do on bad cambered roads :D - but the bike is built for the UK (off) road conditions and handles just great :clap

Let me know if you come over Southampton way and I will let you know next time I am calling in to the Ace Cafe for a meet-up :thumb2
