Just went to go out on my GS.

Red warning triangle stays on, Brake failure flashes and speedo needle swings from 20-40mph when riding slowly!

Was about to go for ride instead Im now waiting for BMW assist, what are my chances that they will fix it? Any ideas?

Thanks

Ian

When the guy came out to mine, he turned out to be a car expert.

He had the laptop but not the software to check the bike, so it was taken away.

If he has to take it away, ask for a courtesy bike if you can.

Mine was away for 8 days and no courtesy bike or car - unless I wanted a car for 48 hrs.

Mine was the red triangle on its own. Your's might just be simpler.

Hope it's sorted pronto for you.

I hope its fixed proto.

Going away on bike at the end of next week! If they take it I will try my hardest to get a like 4 like loan but not sure of my chances!

Stig,

What was the problem with yours? Did they sort it in a timely manner?

This is my first BMW after swapping a VFR for it, no problems with the VFR, I though BMW were also reliable!

Stig,

Found your thread after I posted my reply. So has your bike been fixed satisfactory yet?

Im still waiting for BMW assist just over 1.25 hours now! There are supposed to arrive within next 15mins!

Nope!!

Im not very impressed with BMW assist!

After waiting nearly 2 hours when he arrived I told him the fault. He then said that I had 2 options:

1. I ride the bike to Bath Road BMW (Bristol)
2. He calls for recovery to take it there.

He said if I rode there, he would enter the details into the computer in his car and Bath Road would be expecting me.

He didn't even want to start the bike until I insisted that I showed him the fault! Why didn't BMW just tell me this via the phone when I initially called them? I could have been at Bath Road Bikes earlier!

I put my gear on & go to take the bike to Bath Road. Now the fault has completely gone! Anyway as they would be expecting me I ride down. When I arrive they didn't know anything about it. I have to call them tomorrow to see if they can connect it to the computer to check for fault codes.

What a complete waste of time my afternoon has been! Is this normal BMW aftersales service?

BMW Assist is essentially for cars. They normally send you out a mechanic from the local dealership in a 5series estate.

The guy local to me just turns up, asks me if its safe to ride "as you're the expert"!!! then call for a pick-up. To be honest, it doesn't bother me - I'd rather the car mechanic keeps his tools to himself and admits defeat there and then.

The only thing that annoyed me last time was when the shipped it to a garage that couldn't even look at it for a few weeks. No good when its you're daily transport.

Had the bike checked at Bath Road today. Excellent service at short notice.

Computer reports Faulty rear ABS sensor so the part has been ordered and due for replacement next week.

I hope this fixes the problem.
