I stupidly  took a test ride on a '04 1150 Adventure yesterday :D and was suprised to discover that I could manage the height (low seat option in place). However it was only a short spin and I am looking for any comments from anybody of similiar build (5' 9", 12 stone, 31" inside leg) who has made the transition from a GS (on standard seat) to a GSA (low seat / standard seat) particluarly in regard to height, weight, getting on or off the bike, placing on or off the centre stand, handling, advantages or otherwise of twin plug motor. I generally don't carry much luggage or pillions. I have searched other threads but would appreciate comments on this specific case. Cheers :thumb

The first thing that you will find is that the low seat is bloody uncomfortable!!

The other "issue" is that fully loaded it is VERY heavy and moving it around, inparticular moving it backwards is an art that you need to grasp very quickly!!!

But whatever you decide you will soon get used it, so don't panic about it to much. But as mentioned in the first paragraph, just be aware that you will more than likely need to find an alternative seat!!!

My suggestion would be to put the 1150 seats on the GSA? I believe that its not that expensive in comparison to some of the after-market seats, but at least you know how they will feel.

Made the self same move myself in july, (5' 10", 12 stone and a bit (quite a big bit :D), 30" inside leg ).

Could manage with the standered seat ;), but it was only a matter of time before I droped it , put standered gs ohlins on which droped the bike a inch, changed the centrer stand a few days later to save me back :D
Dont find it any harder to move about/get on and off...... except when I,ve just filled the tank up,
the twinspark motor is much smoother than the old gs I had, all in all glad I made the move :thumb

Go for it, i'm 5'9" and of short leg 31", 16st+( and on a diet  )bought a 04 black GSA 8 months ago ,did tend to worry at first as I only get 1 foot to the deck at the lights but it is a safe plant if ya know what I mean , I find the low seat very comfy on long trips even with a previous serious :spitfire back problem .
The low seat height seems no different to the high seat setting on my previous 1150gs.
Stopping does take some planning or better observations on the road surface but really no sweat.
My only problem is when the bike is on the side stand and the road is falling away slightly to that side, swinging the leg over and pulling the bike upright can be a pain .
A small negative in a big bunch of positives.
O yea sorry , the 1200gs Did not float my boat after a test ride.
