GS Trophy - July 31st - Aug 1st

Hi Folks,
Is there a plan for going down on Friday afternoon evening?

Burt

Yep - I'm gonna put the panniers on, put some fuel in and ride there :P

In all seriousness chap, would be happy to ride down with you. Mobile is playing up so drop me a PM or email :thumb2

Are we supposed to have done anything to arrange camping?

GS trophy competitors get automatic entry don't they?

GS Trophy is full that's what I meant

They said that there may be a few spare places 'on the day' if anyone dropped out/failed to show.....................or they took compassion on someone who could twirl a wheel off road:D

Well I haven't booked a pitch...I didn't know you had too....?

Me neither - I was assuming I can just turn up... Once I work out where I'm going!! :blast

There are no pitches .. you just turn up take whatever space you fancy on the grass .. it's in the office park grounds, not much of facilities, just toilets last year and one burger stand. Sounds like it's going to be a little better this year.

Doing GS Trophy as well .. Group C, I am.

Tried to get showers, but let down last minute...so round the corner the local sports centre have said folks can use theirs..it's a pound though, sorry. On the upside, if you feel all aches and bruises, on Sunday opening 9:15am, they have a sauna for 3 quid, and the pool is open for a swim.

I think there's a short cut walk thro', I'll have a look today and get signs up if there is.

There's a proper camping ground nearby at the national caves, just that if you partake of a bevy or two, you'll need to ride there, so it may be easier to use our far more rustic field and set up there...and you don't need to book a plot, just turn up and you'll be given directions.

Lamble.

Hiya mate,

-- er, yes, I suspect Courvoisier-induced hangovers and the GS Trophy type stuff are a nasty combination :blast Dunno about you, it will be bottles of Evian for me this weekend ;)

Shame I can't meet up at midday, but looking like I'm gonna head down with Doc Savage in the evening, both of us are working in Preston until 17:45-ish , so will meet up then head down. Im at the Ashcroft Inn though, but will probably kick about round the camp site until later on then head back to the Inn. Not sure how far the Inn is from the site, its supposed to be close?

Looking forward to it!

The Ashgrove, or Ashcroft?...Torlief the Scandanavian host at the Ashgrove is quite insane and all the better for it...he's done some weird things in his life and is quite happy to tell you about them, just don't mention his chickens!

Also he has a book of welsh porn that he shows all "strangers"...it's just sheep...but it does get lonely in the valley.

Not far from the TT site at all. Near Walters arena (GS Trophy site) and the local monkey sanctuary bizarrely, you can hear the apes when the wind blows in the right direction.

Oh forgot...the local co-op have stocked up on water, wet wipes and other bits and bobs, that's an easy walk across the road from the camp area...also have a coffee shop for any 'campoocheeno' aficionados.

Imagine the colour of the water in the pool after 90 GSers have had a wash after day 1:eek:

23 through to the second day. only one person was faultless. Final today at Walters Arena near Glyneath. Free spectating, sun is already very warm.

Get here it's going to be dusty, fast and fun.
