Hi I am new to the forum and wonder if anyone can help. My wife and I had a test ride on a R1200GS. She is taller than me I am 5'8" and my wife is 5'11". With the seat lower for the rider anyway it means that she is sitting well above me and suffers a lot of buffeting. I am looking to find out if there is a practical solution to this problem, ie change screen or seat .....before I go and buy a GS

I'm not sure Tobinators are going to solve this, at least not on their own. You are going to need a LOT more screen height to get her in still air. Then you are going to be looking through the middle of a screen, which is not ideal IME as it distorts you perspective a lot. Tobinators don't give you that much extra hight in any event.

You might need to fiddle with the rear seat height too, if there is enough play in it. Failing that, it may be that this isn't the right bike for you.

Touratech screen extender on tall screen? Laminar lip as well as tall screen and Tobinators?

Taller screen from Nippy Normans changed things for the better for my wife !!

Smaller wife? :P

Swap places........

Make her ride up front, you sit pillion..................you'll sit in perfectly still air, no cost option from BMW

No problemo, job sorted :D

Something else from Nippy are those Touratech screen extenders that clip on to the top of the screen. They are 30GBP down from 60 at the moment. I have ordered one, hope to get them soon... should help. I have an adventure screen and tobinators but still need more hight!

PS, I had a go on a new R120PT recently, it had an electronic moveable screen, now that was a great idea and really worked. However on it's most upright position at about 90, the wind whipped around my back and I could feeling it pulling me up! Amazing.....

Thanks for your help, I think I will have to look again at some other options, may have to consider the RT rather than the GS

I'm sure all the benefits of having a taller wife :D out weights a bit of buffeting on you bike, I mean how many times are you asked to get things off the top shelf. :thumb
