Bought BIG DEN'S 1100 unfinished project and am about at wits end tryin to bleed brakes with no success!
Its swishing around abs unit and cant seem to get air out, i have read all sorts of paper work on it and different methods have even had her down my local bike shop and they have thrown in the towel, so what are my options anyone out there who has had similar experiences??
Would be grateful for input.
:)

Was the piston replaced in the front master cylinder ???

Was it put in the right way around - very very easy to put them in back to front :augie , i've done it :blast ( only the once :D) and couldn't bleed the brakes.

1100 brakes!

Piston all original so have to assume all ok.
Does abs pump/ unit have to be running and is this only achievable through bm dealer?
Anymore help would be appreciated
ta:)

I once struggled for three evenings in a row trying to bleed the ABS system on a 1100. Went out and bought a Mityvac which sorted it in 5 minutes flat. Cost about £35 but certainly worked a treat on several brake bleeds after that.

Did you have any success bleeding those brakes?

If not I guess you already tried reverse bleeding to fill the system?
I use a 60ml syringe to fill the lines from the calipers with all pistons fully pushed back in the calipers. Once the lines are filled I bleed normally.
If I can't get all the air out like this I use the messy option to bleed directly at each junction.

Have you got a full set of new front brake pads fitted or lying around?
Sounds daft but try a new set of pads if old ones are fitted!
I had a problem once after cleaning the calipers (without popping out the pistons). After putting it all back together the brake lever went almost all the way back to the handlebar.
Took the tank off and bled the ABS unit, bled both calipers and checked the master cylinder. Nothing seemed to help.
Turns out that I had just swapped the half worn inner and outer brake pads on the right caliper. After swapping them back I had a firm lever gain. :blast
If all the pads were out at the same time and put back in some random order I would rather test a new set of pads than try to figure out all the possible permutations.

It turned out to be the calipers apparently, he took it to B#W and they diagnosed calipers leaking internally :nenau. I spent 2 months on and off and 5.5 ltrs of DOT 4, bought professional bleeding kit, shringed it in sucked it out, did Clymer and Haynes and all suggestions on here still no good. I got Greyhoundman a pair of calipers from Sherlocks, fitted them and bled, all fine :nenau. Beats me but sorted now.
Just spent yesterday and today doing same on my recently purchased 1100, currently zip tied up for the night
