Hi

I collected my 1998 GS1100 today :D Now, looking forward to doing the servicing/repairs etc I am going to need a manual but which one would be best? I have heard that Haynes have some discrepancies in the information? I have also seen that eblag is full of CD manuals...anybody got any experience of these (are they all the same)?

So what should I go for..Haynes...Clymer...or one of the CD manuals.

If anybody has anything then PM me please.

Cheers

Adie

Hi Adie

Haynes is fine as long as you apply a little common sense. I've e mailed them five times with details of discrepancies I've discovered so far and they assure me that they'll be corrected in future editions.

Also check out Steptoe's illustrated maintenance posts.

Another thumbs up for Haynes and common sense :thumb

Let us know if you manage to get a 17" tyre on a standard front wheel rim :D :D

I tend to use as many as i can get my hands on.:bounce1
Got Clymer, Haynes, Genuine bme manual, and lots of printed technical stuff off various sites and of course Steptoes:bow techno bits off here.
they all have there good and bad points, but if you use a variety things always tend to work out ok:thumb
As for cd manuals, got one for the wifes motor and it was pants, stick with books at least you can get oily finger prints on em:beerjug:

Doesn't matter - they're all manual. You need a scooter if you want an automatic.

Coat on - cheerio..:D

ive got bmw/haynes/cd for my 1100.my spanner man says he prefers the bmw/haynes as you can just turn the page and take it to the bike. with the cd you have to have pc/printer etc etc.
and b4 some brite sparks pick up on MY SPANNER MAN.my arms no longer allow me to fettle my own toys:tears :tears :tears and it realy pi--es me off that i cant do it.i always did my own day to day servicing/repairs its part of having a bike i suppose im an old school biker

Manuals.

Get a clymer manual, these are brilliant very thorough and have good wiring diagrams, they are very comprehensive and easy to understand. They are
American so they tell you in the petrol (gas) tank section not to look in the tank with a naked light? why not. they dont tell you that bit.
