I know the subject of engine protection bars has been done to death... But before I fork out the 209 quid for them I just wanted to get a final opinion from you lot...

Looking on the motor works website I came accross the H&B engine bars and the petrol tank/headlight bars. I like the idea of "full protection"... (I suppose its a little bit of overkill... like wearing two condoms :) )...

Has anyone experience of these bars? fitting wise? and how they fair when given the odd bash/ winter out?

Basically... are they worth the dosh?

Cheers! :beerjug:

I've got a chrome set which seem to last 2 winters before they rust. Had to change them twice as well due to coming off. They did their job nothing else got damaged. The first pair I bought, the Tank bars didn't line up with the Engine bars very well and they were a pig to fit, but they have been alright since then. I also fit Air horns to them, as well as Water & Oil Bottles, and Camera mounts.

I had the HB type fitted to 1100 ie engine and tank / headlight protection.... only ever dropped it once and the engine bars took the brunt of the damage, so can't really say if the upper tank part will do much in a spill but they did stop me bashing the tank moving the bike in and around the garage as for fitting I had to do a bit of prising and extra bending in a vice to fit em... but they did look cool.

Thanks for the thoughts...

I've bit the bullit and ordered a set... £221 including the dreaded VAT and delivery for the whole lot (engine/tank bars)... which I thought wasn't bad...

And my theory is if they save the engine/bodywork once they will have paid for themselves!
