Paul

I also agree!

Funny isn´t that here if you have an opinion and express it here you need to be smacked down.

I didnt know I was a pedant or a whinger, thanks for telling me.

I thought Hoove was doing as all a favour, not selling as such.

in fact i thought it would have been a bonus if a non sponser had bought it, it might have put a smile on their face, they need it

SYSTEM 5 BLUETOOTH

tigerwoods said:
hoove,

your are doing great, man! carry on with the good work for us true gs and bmw enthusiasts. ignore the pedants!

no harm disclosing a little insider knowledge!
(so, any idea when the bluetooth system v comes out, man? )

any news about bmw bikes are welcome!

thanks.;)

Hey Tigerwoods - thanks for the support.

The System 5 will be at the UK bike show and BMW (GB) are hoping to be able to demonstrate the Bluetooth capabilities there.

Regarding the launch of this helmet, it is expected to be March 2005 for approximately £280.00. What we are not sure of is whether they will arrive with Bluetooth installed, or if this is an 'option' which the dealer will have to install in the standard helmet at extra costs. My guess would be the latter.

Once installed this would mean any bluetooth enabled phone or MP3 player could communicate with the helmet without resorting to wires.

Also, from looking at the pictures the lid has lost that 1950's space helmet / goldfish bowl appearance for something more angular and modern (thank f*ck!). One of the colours will be Rock Red Metallic all you GS12 GUYS
Cheers, Hoove

System V Helmet and bluetooth

Hi Hoove, great to see you're still on board! :beerjug:

Regarding the System V helmet, if people look at "The 1200GS at Intermot, Munich" thread, I've relayed what the BMW folk explained to me about this, which supports what you've said. They were demonstrating the system on their stand.

RobC has added some handy info regarding the capabilities / limits of bluetooth as well. Sounds like it's OK for talking to the pillion, but not bike to bike (with a range of about 10m).

Cheers, Steve

I spoke to a guy after a demo of the system 5 and blue tooth, he said that the blue tooth will be about 300 euros plus the helmet price plus you will need another gadget to get all the add ons like mp3, rider to rider etc. So by the time the euro price has converted to the £ price:mad: its gonna be pretty pricey, £700 maybe?
He also said they will be retro fit at the dealer.

Regards Paul

Just a thought

Not a dig at anyone this, but if it was a non-sponsor who'd been into N.O. at Peartree roundabout, and heard that a 1200 was available and posted it here, would that have been edited?

Hard one for the moderators I know just as well that they have the knowledge of Solomon.:wave
