Thought this would be of interest to WC owners considering engine bars.

This is my dead WC with Touratat bars after a nearside impact by a car and slide down the road resulting in a cracked frame.

and this is the OEM bars (I don't know the source of the impact as it was recently post on the net)

 So which are better?

My guess, the bm bars, they have more give than the TT bars, the attachment crossbar across the front TT bars would transmit the impact directly across to the oppo side frame lug as well.

Conclusive proof - if any was needed..........................

Different crashes, with different equipment .........................

Will produce different results :blast

Wow! really:blast

How about similar crashes with similar equipment o wise one:rolleyes:

IMHO the crash bars are only any use for a stationary drop of the bike and will hopefully protect the cam housing. Any off at speed and you buggered.

op had an accident with a car and slid down the road.

bike is damaged.

nothing new.

as for the crash bars , what is the point being made ? That BMW bars will let you ride off unscathed ? That Touratech bars will tear your frame apart ? What ?

.

Another pointless thread, so far.:blast OP, we need clarification.:rob

Where did the frame crack mermoto? Was it where the bars attach?

Do the bmw bars attach to frame, engine, or both?
