Got caught out in severe rain today in Germany, now heated grips are on full blast and won’t turn off. It’s over 30 degrees and not exactly comfy.

Any idea how to turn them off? Not worried if they’re off full stop as don’t need them in the near future. Got the 911 with me.

I imagine that you would need to disconnect the switch, it's likley to be shorting closed due to damp. I think the best and easiest way would be to look for a garage airline and blow around the switch area to move the water around, once you do that it'll probably spread it around thinly and dry it out, especially if it's 30deg ambient. You've not much to loose trying this first, before you start disassembling the switchgear.

Thanks a lot for your advice. I actually used an airbed inflator to try and disperse the water, left overnight and covered with a bag to stop any further water ingress. Did 250 miles today and were intermittent, but now appears to be back to normal and working off the button, so it’s probably fully dried out. I’ll have to take a look when I get home, pretty disappointing on a bike which cost a pretty penny.

Cheers

Good result to get you by. If you could get a bit more pressure behind it, it'd get in there better. If it's a newly acquired bike I'd have it back to the dealer before physically disturbing anything. It should be sealed better than that.

It’s been acquired fairly recently through private sale, 18 plate and only done 11k miles. Overall condition is spotless, just a bit disappointed as my previous 1150GSA and 1200GSA hex head seemed to be of better build quality.

Oh right, It may just be a matter of splitting the right control casing to have a look at what's happened to the seal.

Sure you'll get it sorted out. These things sometimes happen.
