For a while now I have been struggling to be able to make calls from my TFT (GS1250). I can receive calls fine, however I cannot get my 'contacts' or 'recent call list' to appear from my iPhone XR, and therefore there is no way of making a call. Each time the message on the TFT is 'updating' and then nothing ever happens. I have had the firmware updated on the bike but this has not resolved the issue. I don't need to make a lot of calls but it is occasionally useful and convenient compared to having to pull in and make a call. Thanks

Daft question but have you tried turning the phone off and on? this always works for me

I’ve struggled to keep my iPhone 12 and 1250 GSA connected for more than 20 minutes at any time. I’ve tried everything, including firmware updates, removing all other Bluetooth pairings etc, but nothing seems to have made a difference.

Some good work has been done by Nick Hodge on YouTube to analyse, understand and resolve the issue, as it appears to be a systemic problem, but it’s unresolved afaik…

Maybe if you have a friend with a Samsung phone try pairing that to your TFT, I think it could be
I Phone related problem.

The current setup is:
Sena 10u in helmet connected to the TFT - primary connection
Sena 10u connected to BMW Nav - secondary connection on the 10u
Iphone paired to TFT
Iphone paired to Nav.

Thanks

The iphone is known to have problems with the TFT when compared to any Android phone. It is down to the protective nature of IOS. The internet is full of people with the same problems.
Before iphone users jump down my neck, it is a fact and not just my opinion.

First re set your 10s then delete all connections from the Tft and the nav then watch the video for re installing, the most important point is the nav set up and de selecting the phone so it doesn’t conflict, with this method I’m on my 3rd tft bike and never had a problem.
Here you go watch from 38 mins in its step by step

There shouldn’t be any problems connecting to iPhones. Oh. Hang on. It’s BMW, :blast

You could also say, there are no problems connecting to Android phones. Oh hang on it's Apple.

Do you have the nav 6 connected to your phone.

Well I can only go by my own experience. Airplay on the Goldwing and in the car all good.

Absolutely, Airplay is great and designed to be used with cars and suchlike. BMW developed their phone navigation system to be used on bikes so that you could select twisty roads, something neither a Goldwing nor a car needs.

But it’s not the nav part of the software that’s the problem is it ?. My understanding is (and I may be wrong ) the whole connection side of it is poor and unstable.

Your iphone should only be paired to the TFT and not to Nav as well. Then yours would be exactly the same as mine and that works fine.

I had no problem with mine when I had a 1250GSA, however, it wasn’t connected to the TFT, only System 7 helmet comms, Nav Vi and iPhone 10 and latterly 12.

I don’t listen to music and silence the Nav IV instructions, I only need it for the phone.

You should also pair the phone to the nav to utilise smart link but you need to do it correctly and de select the phone as per the video so it doesn’t act as a phone book and route calls via the nav.

To minimise issues with mine not staying connected, I deleted all pairings (TFT and iPhone) and deliberately avoided including the Nav V when I re-paired stuff. I had the TFT connected to just the iPhone 12 Pro and my Packtalk Bold intercom. In 20+ rides the TFT/phone connection dropped off every time.

I’ve given up on it now because it’s so flaky. Now I have the iPhone and Packtalk Bold paired up, and both the TFT and Nav V sitting unconnected to anything.

Maybe just ditch the I phone and buy a Samsung, happy days.
