No, It doesn't sound like tyres, But it is. 100%. You'll get used to it. Changing the tyres is best cure !
GS1300 noise

Gearbox is better than my my2022 1250 but only slightly better. I do find it slicker overall.
I've had air cooled 1200s , lc 1200, 2 x 1250s & they clunk going into first since going from a dry clutch to wet clutch. Think it's just the plates that drag in wet clutches.
I found the bike responds better if I go from 1st to 2nd asap after setting off and without many revs on, just a steady throttle. I don't use the clutch & rely on quick shifter, if you open the throttle too much before going into 2nd it doesn't like it. There's plenty of torque so there's no point opening it up in 1st.
1st-2nd using the quickshifter is never very good on any bike because the throw is too long, quickshifter is at its best from 2nd upwards.

I would not wish it on anyone but, having listened to a moto suspension specialist, I merely echoed his view.
The more expensive the toy, the more expensive the parts.
First 'they' hook you in to keep buying their bikes, spending more and more and parts and insurance goes up.
It makes the world go round and I respect anyones' choice of vehicle.

Ffs, quoting an unnamed suspension “expert” rather than any actual experience is not a good start imho.
Obviously, if items cost more, then they are going to cost more to replace. If you want all the bells and whistles, then it costs in development time and money. Or, go old school, and buy a bike without any bells n whistles.
I have old, and new. Both have their problems, and virtues, but to criticise BMW for the cost of the bikes is non sensical to me. The technology costs, the design and development costs, the advertising etc costs….. they are a business, so sadly won’t give us all this for nowt.

Many tyres produce much weirdness. Every new rear tyre on my 1200R, always a Z8 Interact, has produced a really rough, slow pulsing vibration in the bike, in 4th in a particular road speed range. As the tyre gets older, the problem gets less. I'm talking 3 or 4 new tyres, always the same.I'm sure I remember you expressing a preference for Anakee 3s

I replaced michelin panic Kees with Dunlop meridian noise gone wet weather grip restored however engine rattles a firm dealer promise they will subside
When milage increases hopefully whilst still in warranty and VARIO luggage
Issues should be resolved by June

Andrew, did you ever find out more about the noise of your 1300 GS? I just purchased one and the gearbox is whining so loudly that it overshadows everything starting at about 30mph or so. Only 150 miles. Calling the dealer today. I strongly suspect a defect in the gearbox. It's practically unrideable.
The 1300 loan bike I had last week had a gearbox whine worse than a teenager doing chores. I didn't like the character of the bike or the engine noise either, but I feel sorry for anyone who spent big bucks on a new bike and is unhappy with it.

Hi Trailshooter, Yes - my 1300's transmission sounded like a bacon slicer (took me a long time to get the exact analogy) ..and BMW took back my bike and refunded me no questions asked. Like you I had only 250 miles on it. Lots of suggestions on the forum about tires etc which were well meaning but being an engineer I know the difference between tyre and transmission noise. BMW did offer a new complete powertrain replacement but I said no. I bought an R12 instead which is very good. Sorry its not good news. I will buy a GS 1300 again but not until its had all the bugs knocked out of it. All the best.

I had the same issue on my 1250 GS, it was so bad, I was ready to flog the bike. I changed the tyres and the noise disappeared.The new engine makes all sorts of weird noises but if it’s road speed related, then as Onahi said above, it’s certainly your tires
The good news is you can change your tires for a different model
The bad news is that another model may well make just as much noise
Get some ear plugs or take no notice

My gearbox was also crap but ive solved it went back to a 1250
