I used my GS911 to re-set various perimeters on my 2014 GS1200LC but now the quick-shift doesn't work.

When re-setting the gears the software said the process would be completed after the bike had been ridden in each gear which I've done.

I re-set these peramaters because my quick-shift has always been a huge disappointment compared to those I had on a K1300 and S1000RR and I was hoping re-setting them may help.

Has anyone experienced this and if so do you have a cure?

Thanks

Hi, I had my 2014 GSLC in for service at dealers just b4 Xmas, when I left it did not work at all, I am 100 miles away from dealers to my house & by the time I got home it was & still is working..
So, possibly the length of your ride as it seems to have a re-learn capability.. ( or I just got lucky)

I found this on the net for calibrating the quickshifter:

1) Power on,
2) start the bike in 1st
3) While driving go up through all gears being careful to remain 10s in each.
4) Once in sixth, pull in the clutch and shift down to neutral keeping the clutch pulled.
5) Switch off contact and wait 120 sec before restart.

I'm interested in this, I've never felt mine was that good (even after the software update)
Do you have to hold each gear for exactly 10s or is it just "over" 10 s ?

Hi all and thanks for all your help with this.

Im pleased to report that as soon as I started riding my bike the second time after re-calibrating various functions with a GS911 the quick-shifter worked. Because of this I didn't go through the calibrating routine.

Interestingly, compared to those on my K1300s and S1000RR the quick-shifter on my GS has always been a disappointment making me not want to use it. However, yesterday, after re-learning whatever it needed to after my interference with the GS911 it worked better than it ever has.

So my GSAP was great on the down-shift, but up-shifting even with WOT, had a similar effect to grabbing the front brake at each gear change... the front "dived" horribly. At anything other than very gentle throttle, it was crap and really not worth using.

I found this post yesterday, so today I tried it. Followed the instructions and the net result is markedly better than it was. I tried it several times and found keeping it in each gear for more than 10sec had the desired effect. It's still not great, but at least it is more pleasurable to use.

Thanks for the post Fred.

Glad it helped. Would be great if the kill times on this QS could be user adjustable but it's a closed system.
