I’ve just bought the motoscan unicarscan obd 2 and the motoscan app. Cost about £100 altogether.
You wouldn’t have to buy the adapter plug so would be even cheaper for you.
Would that sort your issue or can it only be done with a GS911?

I had an engine management light up on the dash the other day whilst on a weeks tour, I tried to get into Motorrad at Sunderland but they didn't help me any and didn't appear to be interested in helping. The following day the fault cleared but remained on my mind, I thought it may be an idea to get a GS 911 in case of further issues if any crop up, hence my request.
I hadn't considered the Motoscan Unicarscan but now you've brought it to my attention I'll do some research.
