My Gsa had it's mot today, on it's advice note the rear wheel bearing has slight play, and slight unbalanced rear brake but passed the mot.
can anyone advise if this is a normal for a slight amount of play on rear wheel I believe they have a 1mm tolerance???
I'm wondering if this may be a combined problem? Has anyone had a simular problem? does anyone know how much roughly a rear bearing replacement costs?

Thanks

Yes they can have a bit of play especially when warm. Not sure about the brake imbalance, imbalance to what? You get it in cars because the two wheels don't have the same braking force on them but a bike can't have that.

There are thousands of words on this site Re: FD. hours of reading, my advice is change the oil and capture the old oil in a clean container, the condition of the oil would be a good indicator of the FD.

.

Does anyone know a good independent BMW specialist in Devon/Dorset area?

Hi gsadevon74.
Did yo get any further with your rear wheel play etc?
I'm in East Devon and have slight tiny amount of play too.

makes you weep, it bloody scared to death i do not want to see pictures like this at 7 in the morning when i am on my own, i want my mom now, and i want her to tell me this is just a bad dream and will never happen to my bike

By brake 'imbalance' I presume they mean the brake dyno needle wandering (typically cause by a warped rear disk.)

Thanks Jonno for the photos.
Tomorrow will be fitting the rear bevel drive you've so beautifully sorted for me. :beerjug:
and then I will take a chainsaw to the bike to cut it in half like you did, so I can replace the front gearbox oilseal.
Will post photos for your amusement :augie
