If you've broken through the plating it'll only be a matter of time before rust appears I'm afraid. best off whipping them off and giving them a coat of wheel silver

So I suspect they are stainless. They also have that dead feel and weight of the stuff. I had the new (used) bars powder coated because I'm a tart.
