Is it me or is the new GSA handlebar crossbar bigger than the original launch models. I have the foglight switch above the key on the yoke but want to fit the original switch alongside the l/h grip but there does not seem much room.:nenau

Any pics as I have searched and cannot find anything.:thumb

i think the original was welded, and the later version is bolted on.

the early version was shorter and also bolted. hope this helps

You can buy shorter bars that still fit the pad, can't remember were I got mine from but it only cost about £10 from what I can remember.

New bars are completely different , slightly higher (and higher brace bar) and further set back. Found this out when I tried to put the tank bag on - fitted an 06 12 GSA, not the '07 . Whilst this royally peed me off, the overall effect is better - no need for risers!:thumb

Change in '07 bars on a GS?

I wonder if this also applies to the '07 GS as well - i.e. bars slightly higher, further back and less of an angle at the grips? (i.e. less wrist pain) - I'm looking at fitting Renthal bars and risers, but if the '07 bars solve the problem, maybe that is the way to go (depending on BMW's price!)

Also more obvious when you see the repositioned fog light switch which no longer fitted next to the left hand grip. The later position to me looks ridicilous, possibly dangerous and if tank bag fitted impossible to get at IMHO.

Saw a bike with the shorter crossbar some time ago at Jeffries that was WELL bent at the point at which the crossbar attached to the handlebar , no other evidence of a drop, not even a scratch. Personally I was pleased to find the longer bar fitted (as it attaches beyond the bends on the handlebar) on mine when it arrived and smugly thought I knew why :augie

Could it be that the further back, slightly higher bars have in fact just been fitted differently?
Early reviews promised that the bars were adjustable (so they could be raised by 10mm) but it seems not to have been mentioned since (including in the manual).
I say this because I think my (newer) bars are tilted forward slightly - anybody moved them back?
