Hi All
I have just got some Touratech Cylinder Head Guards and have just come to fit them. I have now found the bolts securing the original Cylinder Head Guards are secured with "Six Point Star" heads on the bolts.
Firstly, what is the technical term for these bolts so I know what to ask for when I am looking for them, are they the Torx ones ? and what size are they please

Thanks

Nigel. :thumb2

Torx.

Size? T20 if I had to guess.

Buy them in Halfords.

Check the size carefuly as it is very easy to slip one in that is just a bit too small in, buggering the 'star' shape.

DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO USE A HEX KEY!

Hello,

Torx is correct, can't confirm the size at the moment, probably best to buy a range of sizes as they seem to differ all over the bike. It's likely you'll need them again!

I got a set of 5 from Halfords that seems to cover most bolts.:thumb2

Thanks Guys
The new bolts for my Tourarech Guards are Allen Key head so I couldn't take them to Halfords or BnQ to check what they were or size, anyway all sorted now and in stock at my local Halfords, £9.79, so I don't feel like I've been robbed.
Thanks Again

Another Problem

:confused:Oh no now another problem  .

I got the Torx keys from Halfords and removed the original Cylinder Head Guards, but cannot get the TT Head Guards past the engine bars.
Question is ???
Will the Touratech Guards fit with the engine bars or does it sound like the Touratech item are the wrong age of bike, or do I just remove the engine bars and put them back after fitting the TT Head Guards.
The gents bike I bought them from was a 07 as is mine, I didnt think there was any change during that year.

Cheers

The BMW GSA head guards are very close to the crash bar on the left side. If you fit a head guard that requires crash bar removal, then you will not be popular at service time, or at any other time that requires head guard removal :nenau
