Just put down a deposit for a new GSA.:bounce1
Now its time to think about the spec. Given that the "enduro" gear box is a "no cost" option, (typical :oonyack) should I go for it?

Most of my riding is on-road, but given that the only change (I understand) to the gear box from the normal one is a higher(?) first gear, would it make any differance to the normal performance of the bike.

What are the advantages/disadvantages?

Your thoughts would be appeciated.

Well I went for the Enduro 1st gear. Main reason is that on a few occassions, following lorries up badly surfaced steep hills, I've had to do a fair bit of clutch slipping. Hoping this may help as I like to go to the mountains.

On my 06 12GSA at tickover in first its travelling at around 10MPH, I manage OK without too much slipping the clutch but I still feel its a little high when i'm fully loaded and pulling up a slope from a standstill.

If I had the choice i'd go for the lower first gear:thumb

Definitely go for the low first gear, two up on nadgery mountain hairpins is very awkward and the clutch really stinks!
Two things I really dislike about my 12GSA, the high first gear and getting the seat on and off!

Getting the seat on is much easier if you look and locate the front pins first, when I see people struggling they nearly always have the front of the seat pushed down too far, it need lifting slightly and the seat slips on.

Good luck with getting it off in the first place though:D

Giving the locking mechanism as well as the latching mechanism a good greasing always helps :)

I use some spray on silicon grease, that seems to do the trick for me, but some people suffer with the lock tumbler itself jamming, mine have all been OK though.

Bob, you need the lower gear option to pull away due to all the tools and spares you carry - :augie
