GSA frozen in Arctic Tundra

I am going to buy a GS that's the best part of 11 big ones with all the goodies and I am completely unswayed by your pitiful attempts to simultaneously appeal to my sense of utility and my obscurely felt desire to have a huge knob.;)

It won't work I tell ee.

I'm stronger than that.

Test ride both ... just do it ... if only to be absolutely sure you don't want the Adventure ... after all, what do you have to lose?

I did ... I thought the test ride would get the Adv out of my system and I would stick with my decision to buy the GS with wire wheels ...

... and I do have a huge knob ... or I am one ... Now which is it? :D

Well, you want to buy a GS so that you can be part of this crowd, but your worried that you might be joining the wrong sub-sect.

So...
GS owners are ugly, bitter and short, and have got a chip on their shoulder about their height/wealth.
GSA owners on the other (unbiased) hand, are charismatic, talented, handsome and god-like. Money? No pockets in shrouds...

It's your choice......

YIKES!!!

oh. my. gawd!

i'm too tall, slim, good looking and have a well balanced mind too!

thats it.
i'm off.
anyone want to buy an Airhead?

oh - hang on... phew!
false alarm - all Airhead owners are like that...... :augie

I've seen the photos:rolleyes:

Looked like that National Geographic issue 'The Search For The Missing Link':)

Ok, here's my two pence worth.

Today I took out a 2008 GSA for test ride. How does it compare to my (07) GS Lite?

Definitely a taller bike, so can't get both feet flat on the ground. Not a problem though, easy enough to slide across a bit and plant one hoof firmly. It does mean though that the distance between seat and footpeg is a bit more, so didn't feel the need to stretch legs out while riding.

The bars seemed a bit lower, and dealer confirmed that for 08 the bars are different and for best off-roading position a tweak to their position would be in order.

Screen definitely better than GS Lite. Also, importantly, IMHO seat was more comfortable too. I don't really have issues with standard seat, but it was somehow more squidgy.

What did seem odd though was that it seemed to be revving far highr at given speeds than my 07. On more than one occasion, despite the gear indicator at 80ish looked for next gear to find it wasn't there. Again a chat to dealer after confirmed that gear ratios had been changed for 08.

The bigger tank etc was in no way off putting, bike did feel different at front end (not bad/worse or better, just not the same).

The 08's have 5 bhp more, but to be honest I didn't notice. Demo only had 450 odd miles on it though...

So overall IMHO the GS Lite is a great ride and will do anything that I've ever wanted from it (except hold onto it's vario cases..)

BUT the GSA has the edge...

So much so that order was placed and delivery scheduled for back end of June.:bounce1

Seems experiments for science can be financially costly :blast but that's life.

Overall in response to original question, as loads of people have said it is a case of trying both and preferably back to back. Then making your own mind up as it doesn't matter how much people put on this site only you will know what is best for you and nobody else's opinion at the end of the day actually matters..:thumb

GS's

My 1150 (not an ad) has been modified for my self it has fastway pegs and I have a s/h ad tankk which I can fit in no time for long runs, the only pain is paying to fill it up!. It felt great when it's on the bike it's off at present after a slight prang to be re-painted (Hammerite) but it is good to be able to keep going on a long trip with out worrying about looking for fuel,no I don't need
to stop wafter 200 miles I just like to get going, had 316 miles out of the tank and still had some left but chickend out and filled up!. The only thing about an adventure I would like is a lower bottom gear, have put a different
bevel box on mine from time to time and for traffic it is a transformation I am
sure half the probs with gearbox / clutch slines are caused by much use in heavy traffic and for off roading it is a boon. You must make sure your blke suits you, and if not make it do so after all you are rindig it not Mr BMW.
So get out there and blow off all the B'usa's around the bends.
dave gs. (and I've ridden it thro the Artic tundra!)
